Both (?) buried at Mt Herman Cemetery aka Joplin aka Kirby, West of Fristoe, MO

Cemetery Name Section Township Range
Joplin (aka Kirby, Mt Herman) Sec. 21 Twp. 39 Rng. 22
Location of Mt Herman Cemetery, aka Joplin aka Kirby Cemetery,
is 4 miles west of Fristoe on Rt CC, or on a plat map at: T39, R22, Sec 21.
Cemetery is on a hill to Southwest of where Rd. CC ends.
Highway 65 (So. of Fristoe) go West on (Raven Rd.) to Crabtree Rd.
Go right(North) on Crabtree Rd. (mile /mile and a half) to large ELM tree.
Turn right into field. ((two track trail))
Cemetery is not visible from road as it is in a clearing in nearby grove of trees.
There are no signs marking the cemetery location.

Visited cemetery May 2004 . It is in bad shape.
Upkeep appears to be only an occasional mowing with a "bush hog" rotary mower which in
itself can cause considerable damage.
There are few headstones remaining and those that are there for the most part are broken,
fallen down and illegible.
There are no longer any visible stones confirming the burial of any Shulls there.
Last burial there was in 1949.
A local resident (Shull descendant) states there are Shull's buried there.

NOTE:
Nancy L. Seevers (Daughter of Jacob Seevers and Margaret Reynolds)
Nancy was born on January 8th, 1823.
She may have been named after her mother's sister Nancy (Reynolds) White.

Nancy married Henry Shull on July 9th, 1848 in Benton County, Missouri.
Henry was a much older man who was widowed by his first wife Polly Short 1845
Henry and Nancy had one child: ***James R. Shull - He was born about 1848.

Nancy apparently died not long after the birth of James as Henry was married to
Murica Jane Stewart July 27, 1849 *** son Thomas Shull b. abt. 1850

NOTE:
George Wesley Shull is indicated as James Henry's father on:
Probably not correct.
Extensive research by Shull researchers has not found a father for James Henry
Doss site no longer on line 5/2006

==============================================================
NOTE:

A researcher on JAMES HENRY SHULL line shows the following:

1. Henry Shull was born 1795 in NC. He died about 1853 in Benton, MO.
He had the following children:
2 F i. Daughter Shull was born about 1814.
3 F ii. Daughter Shull was born about 1816.
4 M iii.Son Shull was born about 1818.
5 M iv.Son Shull was born about 1821.
The researcher does not provide date of this marriage, name of wife or
names of children from this "first" marriage and does not indicate source of the above information.

However, based on James Henry's age and date of marriage to Polly Short a prior marriage could
be a possibility.

==============================================

Benton County was created 1835. North of the Osage River came from Pettis County,
south of the Osage from Greene County. In 1841, a northwest section was returned to
Pettis County, and Niangua Township became part of Kinderhook (Camden) County.
The north half of Hickory County was formed from southern Benton County in 1845,
and the boundaries of Benton County Mo have remained unchanged since that time.
